Three named roles. Commit to what you can actually do, and say so plainly: a cancelled session is fine, a ghosted mentee takes months to recover from.

A few years into the camera department beats a career at the top

You do not have to work in film for two of these roles. Any faith, or none.

Everyone who works with participants is inducted, briefed on safeguarding and criminal-record checked at the level the law allows, which Screen Sisters arranges and pays for. Opening: the roles are being recruited to now, and placements go out as each strand opens.

What each role does, and what you get

Mentor

One matched mentee over an agreed period. You explain how a call sheet works, read a CV honestly, say which job to take, and answer when a set has gone wrong. Voluntary, with expenses, training and a named contact behind you.

Workshop facilitator

A session in your craft: camera, lighting, sound, grip, DIT (digital imaging technician), editing, production or writing. We bring the plan. Paid at our facilitator day rate, told to you before you commit, travel and food covered.

Community connector

Notice the storytellers in your community and bring them to the Story-to-Screen Lab. You promise nobody production or access. Expenses and outreach days paid, and a credit on any film you led us to.

What we ask of you

Short, and all of it enforceable.

  • Turn up when you said you would, or tell us early that you cannot.
  • Promise nothing you cannot deliver. Not a job, not a placement, not an unchecked introduction.
  • Keep confidences. Nothing travels except a safeguarding concern, which goes to Nina Karwalska at team@screensisters.org.uk.
  • No alcohol at Screen Sisters activity. Observance is planned for, not accommodated late: a running order has prayer and food in it before it has a lunch break. Women-only sessions are staffed by women.

How to offer

Email team@screensisters.org.uk with the role, where you are based, what you do or have done, and how much time you can give. Tell us anything we should plan around, and we will use it to plan and for nothing else. Next is a conversation, then an induction under the code of conduct.
