Apply, or refer someone

Two forms on one page. Apply for yourself, or tell us about a woman you work with. No CV and no covering letter.

Before you start

We are not scoring you. Say the difficult thing: caring responsibilities, an access need, shift work, no money for the train, a family who are not sure. Each is easier to sort now than in week three.

You do not need to have been on a set. You do not need equipment. If all you have is a phone, that is a working camera and we teach on it.

We ask about faith twice, and the two answers are kept apart

The first question is so we can plan your days. Prayer, fasting, catering, dress, days you cannot do. You choose to tell us, you can change your mind, and the only thing it is used for is arranging the session around you. In data-protection terms that is your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the UK GDPR.

The second question is for counting, and nothing else. It tells us who we are reaching and it goes into what we report to funders. The law we rely on for it, paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Data Protection Act 2018, forbids us using it to make any decision about you. So it is separated from your application, the person reading your application does not see it, and it cannot help or harm you.

Both questions are optional. Leaving either blank changes nothing about your application. Privacy and your data.

Apply for yourself

We use this to assess your application and plan your days, on the lawful basis of legitimate interests, and keep it only as long as we need it.

Town or postcode. We use it to book your travel.

An access need, a support worker, childcare, shift patterns, days you cannot do. Read by a person, never scored.

Optional. Prayer times, fasting, catering, dress, a day of the week that does not work. Used only to arrange your days, on your explicit consent, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.

Optional, and kept apart from everything above. Counted for our funder reporting, never used in any decision about you, and not seen by the person reading your application.

A few sentences. We are not marking the writing.

What happens after you apply

Straight away

A copy of what you sent. If nothing arrives, check the junk folder, then email trainee@screensisters.org.uk.

Then, a reply from a person

Which route fits and what needs arranging. Our reply times apply to everyone, including anyone we cannot place this time.

Then, your place in writing

The programme, the dates, the address, the call time and what to bring. Tick the box and you see 3 Mills first.

Before you travel

Travel in your account, childcare and access confirmed, and the running order with prayer and break times on it. What we cover.

Refer someone

For youth workers, teachers, support workers and whoever people turn to.

Opening. This route is not live yet. We are completing our data-protection registration first, because a referral means handling someone's details before she has ever spoken to us. The form is published so you can see exactly what we ask and what we do with it, and we will say on this page the day it opens.

She does not need to be ready, qualified or sure. What you know that we cannot is whether she has something, and what would stop her. If her family are the obstacle, say so, because we answer them too.

She can do this herself. Send her to the form above instead. The referral form needs one thing the application does not: you have spoken to her. We are then contacting a woman who did not contact us, so we tell her who we are, where her details came from and that she can stop us, which is what Article 14 of the UK GDPR requires. We do not ask you to tell us her faith. She tells us that herself, if she wants to.

The referral

Our lawful basis is Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in offering her the choice. Anything about faith or access rests on her own explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a). We name you as the referrer when we write.

Funded places are for adults. Refer a younger woman anyway and we will point you to something that fits.

Leave it blank and we come back through you.

Please answer this one. On a shared handset, the wrong message is a safeguarding incident.

Travel is paid.

Money, travel, childcare, shifts, access, family, prayer, fasting, food. Only what she has agreed you can pass on. Her history is hers to tell us.

What happens after a referral

We confirm it arrived

If we are not the right fit, we point you somewhere that is.

We contact her once, her way

Naming you, saying where her details came from, and carrying a line she can use to stop hearing from us.

She decides, with us

Nothing of hers is published without her permission.
